April Letter April Letter

Dear Parents,

In the western world, the butterfly symbolizes freedom, fun, joyous times, and a state of naturalness and purity. During the month of March, the VPK rooms witnessed the lifecycle of butterflies as they transformed from eggs to caterpillars to cocoons to butterflies. After hearing the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar, the children set the butterflies free. Those of us who work with young children are blessed to experience humanity in its purest and most natural form. It never ceases to bring us joy to witness the amazement in the eyes of children as they witness the wonders of nature.

Throughout the month of April, the children will make rain in a jar, learn that plants need water to grow, and learn about foods that grow on trees. The afterschool children will attempt to make a greenhouse.

Updates: If your child turns four before or by September 1, 2012, he or she is eligible for VPK. VPK is a program which aims to prepare children for Kindergarten, and helps subsidize preschool care. We are happy to announce that you can avoid the long lines of registering your child for VPK. For your convenience, Future Kids is a VPK registration site. Please see the administrative staff for more information.

If your child will be graduating to Kindergarten, please mark June 7th at 10:00 a.m. on your calendars as the date of Graduation. There will be more information to follow within the next week.

Once again, we are thrilled that our families look out for us! We would like to extend a very special thank you to Ms. Millicent Frimpong, grandmother of Ethan Brown, who donated a large amount of art paper which the children will be able to enjoy for months. We are also very appreciative of Ms. Elvira Subirats (mother of Leila), who donated a Kangaroo Climber which the children started using the moment it was put in the Toddler playground. We truly appreciate all that you do for our center!

Please note that we will be closed on Friday, April 6th for Good Friday. Happy Easter to those of you who celebrate it! We look forward to another fun-filled month!
