Dear Parents,

Happy New Year!!! We hope your holidays were filled with many memorable moments. We would like to extend a warm welcome back to all of you who are returning from vacations. We have missed the children and look forward to hearing their holiday stories.

Our theme for January is "all about winter." The children will be exposed to projects and activities focusing on winter sports, arctic animals, the concepts of hot and cold, and changes in the weather. VPK students will learn about the letters "L," "U," and "K," and the numbers "11," "12," and "13." Our colors of interest will include blue and white.

We are planning a fieldtrip for our VPK students on Tuesday, January 10th to the Morgan Levy Park Community Center to attend "Story Time." This is an event where the children will take pleasure in stories, songs, characters and visual tables. It is also a terrific opportunity to promote literacy and a love of reading. We would love for all of our VPK children to participate, so if your child attends the afternoon VPK session and you would like for him or her to join us, please let us know. The cost will be $5.00 per child to cover the bus fee. If you are interested in going along, parent volunteer/chaperones are welcome to join us! Please don't forget to sign our fieldtrip permission forms at the office.

January 11th will be "Reading is Fun" or "RIF" day. We will be sending home books with each child, courtesy of the Early Learning Coalition of Miami Dade County.

We are happy to welcome new staff members, Ms. Rebecca Lugo and Ms. Mayra Caballero to PK3. Ms. Lugo has her Bachelor's in Psycho pedagogy, and a National CDA (Child Development Associate}. Ms. Caballero has a Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education. Both come highly recommended and with many years of experience working with young children. We feel they will be excellent additions to our FKA teaching team.

We are also excited about our new digital check-in and out system. Each day, as you drop off and pick up your child, you will need to check him or her out by scanning your fingerprint. This will enable us to run smoother operating procedures, and will allow you to have access to your personal accounts. All persons authorized to pick-up children will be required to register their fingerprints. We would appreciate it if you inform your family members and authorized pick-up people that they will need to do this. Please stop by the office and get registered as soon as possible.

As we begin the New Year, we would like to express our gratitude to all of you who have referred our center to other families. Please be aware that our referral bonus is still available. If you refer a child to us, and that child stays for a minimum of four weeks, your child will receive a tuition-free week.

We are looking forward to a new year filled with many exciting activities and fun learning projects for our children. Thank you for being a part of our FKA Family!!!
